We all remember well the Floating Piers on Lake Iseo in Italy, which Christo and Jeanne-Claude unveiled last June, an enormous pier covered with fabric and transformed the lake while uplifting our spirits. This event has become the point of departure for an exhibition held at the 21_21 Design Sight in Tokyo, entitled “Grand Projects: How Far Will You Go?” It comes to present some of the most exciting projects of recent years, art installation of grand scale that have been meant to transform cities, bridges, and landscapes. Ultimately, this exhibition comes to demonstrate the power of contemporary art to transform the world in which we live in. All of the selected projects came to stimulate new activities related to their geographic places, but also to allow the viewers to see our world in the most magnificent way, encouraging us to think differently about art and its power.
