Opened today 100 years ago and change the face of modern design and education. In celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, I will be devoting an episode to the famed and influential design school and its legacy in the upcoming Spring Dialogues, which will air next month. It was founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius by merging two existing schools in Weimar Germany. It closed down just 14 years later when the Nazis came to power, and has since become a symbol of the freedom of the arts. Although short lived, its influence has been far-reaching, extending into the ways we live, create, think, and teach to this day.
