The fact that Claudette Didul, one of the designers in the Mad Men team has used the book “Decoration USA,” by Jose Wilson and Arthur Leaman when coming to design Don Draper’s bachelor pad in the 5th season of the blockbuster television series (above), is not surprising. The white carpeted living room, the colored kitchen, the masculine leather armchairs, all have come to represent urban interior of the year 1966, when the season opened. The book, along with others by the same authors, published in 1965, came to teach Americans the secret of glamorizing homes with the aid of bold colors in the manner of Pop art, flourishing in America in those years.
