Registration to the spring/summer season of my program Collecting Design: History, Collections, Highlights at the New York School of Interior Design is still open. The program starts on April 4th and 5th. I will be hosting friends and colleagues, all worlds experts who will share their passion and knowledge, unveiling and discovering the story of collecting modern and contemporary design. The only program of its kind, it is made possible by Cultured Magazine and Design Think Tank. Christian Larsen, Associate Curator, Modern Design and Decorative Arts, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will discuss mid-century Brazilian design, which is also the topic of his Ph.D. dissertation; Joshua Aibel from Moderne Gallery – on his passion and work with furniture by some of the seminal figures of the American Studio Movement; Nicholas Kilner – on rediscovering chapters and figures active in Italy during the postwar years; Hugues Magen – on connoisseurship in French mid-century design; James Zemaitis – on collectible mid-century Nordic design; Carole Hochman from Friedman Banda – on the gallery’s program of producing and exhibiting contemporary collectible design. Registration to the spring season of Collecting Design is open now.
