The Story of Modern Design: Part II – Art Nouveau

Design educator and historian Daniella Ohad presents a unique online course exploring the foundation of modern design history. Part II is a 5-session course, providing an overview of Fin de siècle, of the turn of the 20th century, among the most exciting periods in design and architectural history. Each talk in the series will be devoted to one of the five geographical centers in the production of early modern design – England, Vienna, France, Belgium, Spain & Scotland, and will explore a variety of themes including furniture, interiors, architecture, fashion, cars, and objects. Students will develop an understanding of the history of design and its visual vocabulary.

About the Instructor
Daniella Ohad received her Ph.D. from Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design and Culture. She lectures and publishes widely on design history, theory, and the decorative arts. She has taught at Parsons the New School for Design, Pratt Institute, and Bard College. She is a speaker on topics in design, collecting, and taste worldwide.
