The Art of Timeless Design

I have first met John Birch, co-founder of New York design destination Wyeth years ago when posting an ad in the local newspaper for a small chair that I wanted to sell. John came to my home, personally picked up the chair, and told me about his passion for design. It is when I discovered that he would go to the end of the world to discover beautiful things. When visited Wyeth, I could immediately sense his great eye, and over the years, I have visited some great interiors furnished with 20th-century masterpieces, assembled under his guidance. Tomorrow, Sotheby’s will open the preview of his single-owner collection “WYETH: The Art of Timeless Design,” which will be auctioned off on June 7th. Birch has made his name with the talent of mixing primitive with 70s design,  Scandinavian with industrial, Studio Furniture with streamlining, all before this approach was embraced by the world of interior design. The sale includes several one-of-a-kind items by Hans Wegner, pieces by Gio Ponti, Finn Juhl, and some of the best talents working throughout the previous century.
