Congratulating Naoto Fukasawa, the recipient of the 2018 Isamu Noguchi Award (together with landscape designer and environmental activist Edwina von Gal), given annually to those sharing Noguchi’s spirit of innovation, global consciousness, and commitment to East/West cultural exchange. Tokyo-based Fukasawa is not only an accomplished industrial designer who minimalist and refined language rooted in the Japanese tradition, but also the Director 21_21 Design Sight, one of my favorite design museums. Founded in 2007, the museum is housed in a building designed by Tadao Ando and Issey Miyake in Roppongi, Tokyo.
