Glass Houses by Design Legends

Glass Houses by Design Legends: Mies van der Rohe, Philip Johnson, Paul Rudolph

December 9th, 6:30-8:00
Sotheby’s
1334 York Avenue, New York, NY 10021

No other American house of the mid-century years had come to capture the fantasy of living in transparent glass as the three glass houses which will be celebrated in a special event which I curate and moderta at Sotheby’s on December 9th: The Fanrsworth House; the Glass House; and the Walker Guest House. All constructed within two years (1949-1951) of each other and designed by architectural legends, these are among the most admired, influential and memorable homes of 20th-century American architecture. Each marked extraordinary moments in the careers and legacies of their respective architects; Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Philip Johnson and Paul Rudolph.
