Great news for all lovers of New York City architecture, and particularly for those admiring Brutalism. Blue Crow Media has recently published the official Concrete New York Map, an architectural guide that comes to illuminate fifty (50) of the city’s finest Brutalist buildings. Those who tend to think of NYC as the mecca of Art Deco would be surprised to visit such gems as subway tunnels, Pier Luigi Nervi’s George Washington Bridge Bus Station, Albert C. Ledner’s O’Toole Building, and the more famed Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and Eero Saarinen’s TWA Terminal at JFK Airport. Some of the greatest architects of the past century, Marcel Breuer, I.M. Pei, Paul Rudolph, just to name three participated in making New York into a center for remarkable concrete buildings, and now these have been mapped out, photographed (by Jason Woods) and edited (by Allison Meier)., .
