Registration to the summer season of the program Collecting Design: History, Collections, Highlights is open now. Collecting modern and contemporary design has become one of the most dynamic, influential territories in the international marketplace, a territory that stands at the forefront of style and taste. The program I started at the New York School of Interior Design, the only education venture of its kind, comes to educate architects, designers, and collectors in this discipline, which not only dominates interior design, but also attracts those seeking to live in personal homes filled with beautiful and meaningful things. In the summer season, I will discuss Dutch design, following its evolution from the beginning of the Conceptual Design Movement in the early 90s to the present; I will host David N. Ebner, one of the most ambitious and talented representatives of the American Studio Movement; I will host Natalia Torija to share her research on George Nakashima the architect; we will be visiting an auction house; and will conclude with a visit to the new and super chic gallery of Nicholas Kilner, where we will analyze mid-century Italian design, examining furniture by Osvaldo Borsani, Gio Ponti, and Ico Parisi.
