Registration to the second section of my flag program Collecting Design: History, Collections, Highlights at the New York School of Interior Design is open now. Focusing on collecting modern and contemporary design, its place in the dynamic market, and its status as the global barometer of trend forecasting, high-brow interior design, and an avenue of investment, the program, the only one of its kind, comes to educated interior designers, architects, and art collectors in this fascinating territory. In the upcoming section, we will be visiting the The Salon Art + Design, NYC’s most prominent design fair for a curated tour; visit a ceramic galelry and experience connoisseurship; an auction house; explore historical and contemporary plywood furniture in celebrating the current exhibition at the V&A, the first comprehensive study of the history of plywood; and learn about collectible contemporary design and its power to shape the 21st-century interior.
