Lorenz has become known for her unique art panels in lacquer, gold, and mother-of-pearl inlay on wood, where she brings together nature and craft, Italian methods of craftsmanship with Japanese aesthetic sensibility. The combination of her materials – gold, resin, wood, glass — is fresh and personal, demonstrating her love story with the culture of Japan, where she spent her adolescence years.
Lorenz has been creating installations for some of the world’s finest and most ambitious interior projects. For Peter Marino she crafted panels in many of his Chanel boutiques across the globe; for Michael Smith, installations in his Beverly Hilton Hotel; and for William Sofield, she designed panels for Gucci Tokyo, the elevator doors for his upcoming lobby of the Steinway Tower by SHoP Architects on West 57th Street. Her couture boxes, in which she collaborated with Bottega Veneta and Temple St. Clair, are now represented by R & Company; Lorenz was the subject of museum exhibitions, endless covers, and the list of her accomplishments is far beyond the scope of this post.
